CHARITY STRIP - There will be a “Full Monty” charity strip at a “Ladies Only Night” to be held at the Treorchy Workingmen’s Club (Pig & Whistle) on Thursday, 29th November from 7.30 to 11.30pm. The evening is to be held by Quest International, professional event organizers. Tickets cost £7.50 and a disco is included. All proceeds go to Cancer Research Wales. For tickets, phone 01443 421999.
XMAS FETE - Treorci Meithrin hold their Christmas Fete on Saturday 1st December at Treorchy Boys Club from 11am to 1pm. Featuring - Father Christmas - bouncy castle - refreshments - homeware stall - face painting - cake and toy stalls - brik-a-brak and raffles. All welcome. · XMAS FETE - St. George's Church in Cwmparc will hold a Grand Christmas Fete on Saturday 1st December from 11am to 2pm. With a wide variety of stalls featuring bric-a-brak - home produce - cakes - knitwear etc.. and FATHER CHRISTMAS also calling in between 11.20am and 12noon. All are welcome to come along. BASKETBALL - "Rhondda Rebels", the National Basketball Cup defending champions, will face Nottingham Wildcats in the national quarter-finals on Saturday 1st December. · REUNION - Pentre Junior School holds a reunion at Ton Pentre FC on Sunday 2nd December for pupils who attended between 1956 and 1957. APPEAL - The staff of Travelcare in Treorchy, are appealing for Christmas gifts or toys to fill “Santa’s Suitcase” - which will be donated to the “Penyrenglyn Project”, a satellite project for Valleys Kids. They are hoping that customers, members of the public and other local businesses will be able to help them to fill “Santa’s Suitcase”, which is on display at their branch in Bute Street. If you can help them spread a bit of Christmas cheer - gifts can be left at the shop until 15th December. For further details phone 01443-441600. · CONCERT - Rhondda Boys' Club Appeals Committee holds an annual fund raising concert at the Park and Dare Theatre on Saturday 15th December at 7pm. Featuring the Treorchy Male Voice Choir, Cory Band and Treorchy Primary School. Tickets £6 and £5. PROJECT - Treorchy Comprehensive pupils have won £500 in a national competition set by Barclays bank to initiate community projects. The sixth-form pupils will now set up a Welsh-language project at a local primary school and help teach the Welsh language using books, games, videos and computer software. · COMPETITION - Acedemi Cardiff International Poetry Competition offers a range of cash prizes and an opportunity for publication.
