EXHIBITION - The Ystradyfodwg Art Society's Annual Art Exhibition at the Park & Dare Theatre was cancelled following the sudden death of local artist Neville Yeo on the afternoon of Thursday, 27th June.
SNOOKERTHON - The Ton Pentre Annual Snookerthon in aid of Rhondda Macmillan Nurses sends thanks to all who supported them, having raised more than £4000 so far, topping last year's total.

Youth groups from all the Valleys First constituencies have been invited.
THANKS - 85yr-old Hilda Davies of Treorchy would like to thank the young man who found her purse and held on to it safely for a week until he could return it to her - after she had lost her pension near the vegetable stall in Treorchy market where the young man works each week.

CYCLISTS - The National Kidney Research Fund in Wales seeks Cyclists of all ages to take part in its annual Champagne cycle ride from Blackpool Tower on 31st August to the Eiffel Tower in Paris on 8th September. Contact 01633 889407 for information.

BEACONS BUS - The Beacons Sunday Bus service operating from Cardiff and the Rhondda Fawr to Brecon is running again until 26th August. The services have cycle carrying trailers and run to the National Park Mountain Centre, Garwnant Forest Visitors Centre, Hay-on-Wye, the National Botanical Gardens and Brecon Mountain railways. CLAIMS - Ex-miners suffering from Vibration White Finger, otherwise known as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, have until 31st October 2002 to make a claim against the Department of Trade and Industry. The condition is a form of Reynaud's Disease and is triggered by long use of vibrating machine tools - causing tingling & numbness in fingers, whiteness & aching in fingertips, and blood circulation problems which can lead to gangrene.
BURGLARY - Cardiff Neighbourhood Watch members issued a warning against revealing your home address over the phone while at work - after a spate of bogus calls in the area to women in the workplace, from conmen pretending to be from the Post Office, offering gift vouchers & asking for postcodes and home addresses for their delivery. 90% of women confirming addresses have been subsequently burgled.
ASSAULTS - A 12 year-old boy has been interviewed by police after 8 women were indecently assaulted within a 48 hour period in the Tonypandy area.
BOWLS - Cardiff Blind Bowls Club meets every Saturday from 2pm to 5pm at Howard Garden Bowling Club. Blind and partially sighted new members are welcome to join. Contact Sanda Fish on 029 2021 2914.
OPEN DAY - Rhondda Kinder Care holds an open day on Friday 14th June at Bethlehem Chapel, Treorchy. A longstanding parent and toddler service registered with RCT Council and established since 1981. DEATHS - The number of drug-related deaths in Wales has risen significantly according to figures from the National Assembly.
