PACT MEETING - The next Police and Communities Together (PACT) monthly meeting for the Treorchy and Cwmparc areas will be held at Ty Bethania, Herbert Street , Treorchy on Tuesday, July 6, at 6pm.

All welcome to attend. The meeting is for residents to come along and bring up any issues they have in the area that they live. They do not have to be police issues as this is a partnership meeting. We have the local councillors attending, housing officer, detached youth workers etc. There is street parking for people attending this meeting.

One of this month’s priorities has been the under age drinking or alcohol related youth annoyance at Ystradfechan playing fields. Large numbers of youths have been reported as gathering there on Friday evenings drinking alcohol, lighting BBQs and leaving litter on the field. Numbers of youths at the field have been in excess of 100 and from all over the Rhondda area. British Transport Police have been spoken to regarding the number of youths travelling to the area and an operation has been organised with members of the Community Safety Team and the Youth Offending Team. Treorchy Comprehensive School has also been advised of the issues as some youngsters were wearing their uniforms.

Another priority has been road safety issues along Pentwyn Road regarding a lack of traffic signage, including highlighting the street as a 30mph zone, and speeding vehicles.

The Road Policing Unit has been contacted to monitor the speed of vehicles and Councillor Evans-Fear contacted the council regarding road signage, street lighting and damaged fence repair along Pentwyn Road .

For further information about PACT meetings, contact PCSO Suzanne Casey on 07805301072.
