PERFORMING ARTS - The Arts project at Cwmparc Welfare Hall is proud to present a performing arts celebration of the home-grown talent developed from the arts project’s own evening courses and other entertainment.

Singing - Children’s Dancing - Salsa Dancing - Drama - Music & Flamenco Dancing will all be on show with something for everyone to enjoy and support the local community at the same time.

  • SURGERIES - Chris Bryant MP for Rhondda holds an advice surgery at Noddfa Day Centre, Treorchy on Saturday 24th April at 9.30am. For any urgent enquiries, or if you are physically unable to attend, please contact the constituency office at 5 Cemetery Road, Porth, Rhondda, CF39 0LG. Due to unforeseen parliamentary business, it may be necessary to rearrange surgeries at short notice. Phone 01443 687697 for further details.

NEWSLETTER - Our Spring newsletter is currently being delivered to each home in the area, featuring more items from our community website. By popular demand, another article by May Jenkins of Glyncoli Road has been included.

A beautiful framed painting has been donated by the Ystradyfodwg Art Society to give away in this issue’s free draw and there is also an individual number printed on each copy to win a £20 shopping voucher kindly donated by the Treorchy and District Chamber of Trade.

Many thanks to the Art Society members and also the members of our local Chamber of Trade for kindly supporting our website and newsletter by providing the prizes. Thanks also to our volunteers who help deliver our 4,000 copies locally and to those who help staple and fold the 20 x A5 page issue.

  • CAMEO SOCIETY - The Rhondda Cameo Society held its AGM and Spring Tea at Maindy Conservative Club, Ton Pentre. The officers and committee members were all duly re-elected. A presentation was made to Mrs Mair Jones (pianist) on the occasion of her 90th birthday and ‘get well’ wishes were sent to Glenys Jones after her recent accident.

    The guest speaker was Jenny Rolfe who gave an enlightening talk on the history of the Model House, Llantrisant, and its many art, craft and design activities. She invited all those interested to visit the Model House, which always welcomes visitors. The vote of thanks was given by secretary Megan Morris. Members are reminded that on April 28th there will be a day trip to Carmarthen and Laugharne.

EASTER SERVICES - A communion service will be held at Hope Baptist Chapel, Gelli at 10.45am on Good Friday April 9th with the Reverend Doctor J D Weaver, who is Principal at the South Wales Baptist College.

A Family Worship service will be held on Easter Sunday at 11am and a Communion Service at 6pm, led by Mrs Wendy Angove of Caerphilly.

Please come along and join us. All are welcome.

FIRST AID - Cwmparc Division of the St John Ambulance meet at 17 High Street Treorchy and provide first aid cover at most events and also provide training for the general public in first aid. If anyone would like to attend the next first aid course - contact the Officer in Charge Mrs Barbara Chislett on 01443 772727
