Here's another humorous offering to Poet's Corner from a local lady. 6666666666666666666 "Welsh
Cakes" I
decided to make Welsh cakes, Yesterday
for tea, My
husband took a bite from one, Then
smiled and turned to me. He
said, I’ll tell you a story The
truest of all tales, Of
how the very first Welsh cakes Came
to be made in Wales An
angel came from heaven To
visit Wales one day, She
flew into a kitchen and
found A
lady in dismay. “Don’t
fret,” she said, “I’ll help you Make
cakes, the very best, You
bring me the ingredients And
I will do the rest.” She
placed them in a mixing bowl, Took
a sunbeam in her hand, She
stirred in fruit and flour and fat, My
word it did look grand. In
went spice and flour and eggs And
dew fresh from the morn, She
added hope and joy and love, That’s
how Welsh Cakes were first born. Welsh
Cakes, he said winking his eye, Came
straight from heaven above, Delicious
nectar, meant to be An
angel’s gift of love. Light
as a butterfly floating along On
a warm summer breeze. Not
lumps of Indian Rubber That
can tamp around like these.” by Anna Brown. *Treorchy.net sends thanks again to Anna - do keep 'em coming! and if anyone else would like to contribute to our poet's corner then e-mail your unpublished work to news@Treorchy.net **Treorchy.net reserves the right to illustrate any submissions - copyright of all poetry remains with the authors and should not be reproduced in any form without prior permission. |
