Here's a humorous offering to Poet's Corner from a local lady. 6666666666666666666 "TREORCHY'S CCTV" Shopping in Treorchy Will never be the same for me, Since the Law and Order group Installed Closed Circuit TV. No more going out in rollers With a scarf tied around my head, It’s off to the local hairdresser’s For a shampoo and set instead. No shabby shoes or slippers It’s high heels and Sunday coat, Long dangling Bet Lynch earrings And pearl choker ’round my throat. No running up the high street Now, I walk with swaggered gait, Until the green man flashes At the curb, I poise and wait. I pirouette across the road I really give my all, ‘Cause I know, I’m recorded By the cameras on the wall. I’ve had some strange reactions, People stand and stare, Others nod and nudge and wink But really, I don’t care. I know they will be sorry When on crime watch, I one day Will be smiling in the background, Whilst witnessing an affray. So when you’re in Treorchy Be careful one and all, Your every move’s recorded By the cameras on the wall 55555555555555555555555555 *Treorchy.net sends many thanks to Anna - this is exactly how many of us felt about those cameras when they first appeared - do send us more! and if anyone else would like to contribute to our poet's corner then e-mail your unpublished work to news@Treorchy.net **Treorchy.net reserves the right to illustrate any submissions - copyright of all poetry remains with the authors and should not be reproduced in any form without prior permission. |
