Here's another offering to Poet's Corner from a Southampton gentleman. 6666666666666666666 "The Dreamer"
I have always been a dreamer, And I am a dreamer still. But my dreams just never do come true, Perhaps they never will. I once dreamed I was a hero So full of derring-do. But I simply was not needed Doing things that heroes do.
I dreamed I could make music, Perhaps play a baby-grand. But somehow there was never time To go and join the band.
I dreamed of painting pictures Portraits true to life. But all I ever managed was A photo of the wife.
I dreamed I’d be a singer, They said my voice was fair. But they’d bang upon the bathroom door If I started singing there. I dreamed I’d be a writer But I couldn’t find a plot. Somehow a play seemed easier, But Shakespeare I am not. So I will go on dreaming It really suits me fine. I might even be a poet If I only had the time. by George Nicolls, Dibden Purlieu, Southampton 55555555555555555555555555 *Treorchy.net sends many thanks to George for sharing his poems with us - do keep 'em coming! and if anyone else would like to contribute to our poet's corner then e-mail your unpublished work to news@Treorchy.net **Treorchy.net reserves the right to illustrate any submissions - copyright of all poetry remains with the authors and should not be reproduced in any form without prior permission. |
