Here's a first offering to Poet's Corner from a former Pentre boy - now living in Ynyshir.

"The Castle"

I  was locked within a castle - that was mine and mine alone.

With towers tall, defenses strong, and walls of solid stone.

The bridge was long, the moat was deep, its waters black with sin.

No-one knew of all the vice that was safely kept within.

All my bitterness and anger, all my stubbornness and pride.

These fleshy fruits, these Earthly treasures, I daily stored inside.

If walls could speak I'm sure the walls would tell of locked up pain.

The frustration and the loneliness, that were kept in my domain.

One day a man crossed my bridge and knocked upon my door.

He said that he possessed the key to all I was looking for.

He asked if I would open up, and be sure to let him in.

So he could clean out all my rooms, so His blood could cleanse my sin.

He asked me if I would like a friend, instead of being alone.

He asked to be King of my castle, and to sit upon the throne.

Then He showed to me the nail prints that were in His feet and hands.

And all at once my eyes were opened, and I began to understand.

Understand the precious love He was offering to me.

And suddenly my heart desired, to be wonderfully set free.

So I opened wide my castle doors, and let Jesus enter in.

I let Him clean out all my rooms, and His blood cleanse all my sin.

So now the castle is full of love, and no longer is my own.

For Christ is crowned "King of Kings" and sits upon the throne.

I'm so glad that I asked Jesus, to come and dwell inside this place.

And with assurance I can say, He's saved me by His grace.
