Here's another offering to Poet's Corner from a local lady.

"Reincarnation"

If there really is reincarnation

I want to come back when I die

As a beautiful, fragile butterfly

That flutters about in the sky.

I’d visit all the exotic flowers,

And brush wings with those striped bumble bees,

Then, I’d fly with great ease to the highest point

And gaze down from the top of the trees.

I know butterflies have a short life span

From the grub to artistic winged state,

Its life can be very precarious,

Could end up on a crow’s dinner plate.

If I had to choose, I should like to be caught

In a net, by a handsome young man,

Who would take me to live in his greenhouse

Where I’d complete my second life span.

When my fluttering days were over,

I’d be pinned to a large sequined board,

In a window display, admired each day

By folk passing by on the road.

But, knowing my luck, I’d come back as a moth

The big, ugly, khaki, fat sort,

I’d emerge in the night, be attracted by light,

And be burnt in the flame, ‘What a thought.’
