Here's another offering to Poet's Corner from a Treorchy lady. 6666666666666666666 "Proudly They Stood"
The
day I’ve dreaded has come to pass The
trees are gone, now only grass. Proudly
they stood majestic and tall Each
one magnificent in Spring, Summer and Fall. In
springtime, alive and full of birdsong In
summer, leaves full and protective of all In
autumn, golden leaves flutter and fall A
sight to behold, a treat for all. In
winter, their outline, black against the grey sky Throw
shapes to see, pleasing the eye. But
now, no more, nothing to see No
more proud majesty. All
that’s left as I look through my tears Are
piles and piles of forgotten dead trees. by Mary Ellis 55555555555555555555555555 *Treorchy.net sends many thanks again to Mary. and if anyone else would like to contribute to our poet's corner then e-mail your unpublished work to news@Treorchy.net **Treorchy.net reserves the right to illustrate any submissions - copyright of all poetry remains with the authors and should not be reproduced in any form without prior permission. |
