Here's a humourous first offering to Poet's Corner from a Treorchy gentleman. 6666666666666666666 "My
Albatross" They cropped my wages every week. I never thought it fair That for the right to go to work I paid for "Park and Dare"!
But now the coalmines long have gone The hall's in Council care - Another burden on the rates - And I must pay my share.
All around that graceful hall The road is yellow lined - Ignored by patrons, one and all, and constabulary blind!
The only time the rules were kept - All parking banned summarily - Then the roads around were swept, In honour of young "Charlie".
Police were present - by the "ton" - They took enormous pains. The locals laughed at all the fun Of frogmen in the drains!
Though I live close to this great hall And parking is a chore, I seldom use the place at all So paying makes me sore.
But pay its filthy cost I must - And live just for the day I'll see it crumble into dust - Hip hip - Hip hip - HOORAY!!!!
