Here's another offering to Poet's Corner from a Treorchy lady.

"I Forgot to Remember"

I forgot to remember you’re not here anymore.

I still wait for you to walk through my door.

A friend like you I’ll never find again.

Only my memories of you remain.

The days we shopped the days we laughed,

Those times we shared are locked in my heart.

The times you cried and I held your hand,

The times I cried and you said "Never mind".

I remember our holidays together,

We always had fun whatever the weather.

The children came first, that was always your pleasure.

You had no time for lazing and leisure.

You took care of people for most of your life.

A dutiful daughter a loving wife.

You hid your troubles beneath a smiling face,

You were always there, right time, right place.

Street parties, birthday parties, you loved to celebrate,

You were always there filling somebody’s plate.

I needed you the other day.

"Never mind." I wanted you to say.

I put on my coat, I walked to my door.

I forgot to remember, you’re not here anymore.
