Here's another offering to Poet's Corner from a Treorchy lady. 6666666666666666666 "How
Does My Garden Grow?" I
walked around my garden today, I
thought to myself, it’s come a long way Shrubs
and trees are established now How did it happen, I’ll tell you how.
I
dug the holes, I planted them in, I
pushed back the earth and watered them in. Trees
for the birds, plants for the bees Bulbs for the springtime, and flowers from seeds.
I
gathered up branches broken from trees Along
woodland walkways I searched for these Down
the mountain I dragged them For small creature to hide in, or shelter or nest.
The
rocks I uncovered while digging the ground I
put in the garden with plants all around. I
waited for months and then came the Spring Up
came the flowers and bulbs I put in.
I
weeded, I planted, I pruned and cut back. I
filled up the buckets and watered from cans And
all this because I planted the land.
I
prayed for the sunshine, I prayed for the rain, I
prayed for the flowers to bloom again. Someone
was listening, someone above He
gave me his help, he gave me his love.
He
helped in my garden when I wasn’t there He
helped the plants grow, he answered my prayer And
between us both, and for all to see A
beautiful garden he’s given to me. by Mary Ellis 55555555555555555555555555 *Treorchy.net sends a warm "Tnank You" again to Mary for sharing her poems with us all. and if anyone else would like to contribute to our poet's corner then e-mail your unpublished work to news@Treorchy.net **Treorchy.net reserves the right to illustrate any submissions - copyright of all poetry remains with the authors and should not be reproduced in any form without prior permission. |
