With their head office in Tonypandy, Rhondda Community Credit Union has been providing local people with a flexible way to save and have access to low cost loans since September 1998.

The Credit Union operates 13 satellite collection points throughout the Rhondda Fach and Fawr so that as many people as possible can take advantage of the services offered by the Credit Union.

The Credit Union is a financial co-operative and is therefore owned and controlled by its members. Members are linked through the common bond by either living or working in the area.

The Credit Union is regulated by the Financial Services Authority and come under the services of the Financial Ombudsman Services. Joining the Credit Union is easy. Membership costs just £1.00 and FREE LIFE INSURANCE is provided on savings and loans.

Members can access low cost loans. The interest rate is fixed at 1% per month on a reducing balance. As an example a loan of £200.00 repaid weekly over 1-year costs only £13.24 in interest, making the total repayable just £213.24.

All the Collectors and Directors are all volunteers who spare as much time as they possibly can to help the Credit Union provide this valuable service. New Volunteers are always welcome. No experience is necessary as full training is given; travel expenses are also paid.
