Thomas Coaches Mid Rhondda Brass Band

The band is based in Tonypandy in the Rhondda Valley. 

It was founded in 1941 as Tonypandy Silver Band, changing to Mid Rhondda Band in 1949. 

In 1995 it became known as Thomas Coaches Mid Rhondda Band.

It first achieved Championship Section Status in 1995 and in 1967 won the HTV Band of the Year Competition. 

The band represented Wales at the European Championships in 1991 and at the National Finals in the Royal Albert Hall.

Its greatest achievement was to take 2nd place at the National Finals in 2006 in Section 1.

It has also been successful at other Brass Band Championships : Pontins, Grand Shield, Blackpool Mineworkers, Porthcawl and local Welsh contests, being joint Champion Band of Wales in 2006.

The band has also had an active concert programme , playing in local churches, halls, parks, for weddings and Christmas festivities etc.

News:

After a disappointing 12 months we are in the process of re building the band and hope to attract any new and former players who would like to come ' for a blow.' Rehearsals are in the bandroom in Dunraven Street, Tonypandy every Thursday  at 7.45 pm.

Training band:

We are also re starting our training band , with the first rehearsal at the bandroom on Thursday 4th February at 6pm. We extend a welcome to any players  and those wishing to learn ( brass or percussion ). A selection of instruments is available for any keen youngster or even those not so young!

Fundraising: 

The band holds regular jumble sales at the bandroom every Friday from 9.30.to 12.30 - run by Marilyn Gibbs. Come along for a rummage and excellent tea and toast !!
