Abergorki Community Hall Film Club is based at the former Abergorki Workingmen's Hall at 19A Bute Street, Treorchy.

The Film Club has a first-class projector and following some basic market research, has purchased several films including

  • Lawrence of Arabia - the fully restored and re-mastered director's cut. Including lost footage, this version of David Lean's breathtaking classic can be shown in wide-screen. The full programme will include a "making of" documentary, original theatrical trailers, footage from the New York premiere, plus maps, texts and photos from "archive of Arabia"
  • Apocalypse Now Redux - This version of Francis Ford-Coppola's brilliant film, nominated for nine academy awards, includes 49 additional minutes of never-before-seen footage. This is the definitive, all-new director's cut of a groundbreaking motion picture epic, a film widely considered to be one of the greatest ever made. Loosely based on Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, this essentially anti-war film is a powerful cinematic journey, with Marlon Brando, Robert Duval, Martin Sheen and Dennis Hopper.

Initially films will be shown as private screenings for members only. This will take place at Abergorki Community Hall - a pleasant return to past glories for the building itself. However, other community venues are also being considered.

Anyone wishing to join the Film Club should contact the Abergorki Community Hall by phoning the secretary Nick Nedsy on 01443 - 773457.
