Family surnames names listed below in alphabetical order include: WILCE; WILDE; WILLIAMS (Danny); WILLIAMS (David John); WILLIAMS (Gwynhwfra) 2nd September 2009 WILCE Hi, I'm trying to trace my relatives from Blaenrhondda and Treherbert. My uncle, Tom Wilce, lived in Bute Street from at least the 1950's but after he died I had no further contact with my extensive family living in the area and would love to get in contact with them again My mother Cavell Wilce was born in Pontypridd in 1915 but lived in Blaenrhondda, the family originated from Ruardean in Gloucestershire and I have extensive information from Gloucester prior to this time but very little family history from Blaenrhondda except for siblings of my mother. My grandfather was Tom Wilce (b1877 Westbury-on-Severn) and Grandmother Mary Wilce nee Morgan (b1880 Ross-on-wye), I know from what my mother told me years ago that there were several Aunts and Uncles living in the Rhondda area. Any information on living or dead relatives would be greatly welcomed. Many thanks Keith Wilce-Davies 14th December 2008 WILLIAMS Hi, Back as a child growing up in the 50's in Cardiganshire, a lady by the name of Alice Williams (auntie Alice) used to visit us regularly every summer . I believe that she would have been a relation somehow to my gran . As I'm into family research I would like to find where in the tree she' fits in '. Her brother Danny also visited on occasions, he was a member of the male voice choir and I've been told he was known as Dan Diesel. They had another sister Betty who I believe lived in Ferndale at that time. Alice and Danny lived in the High Street near a chapel? Is there anyone who can help me with some info so that I can fit in the pieces . Many thanks Buddug Hollett * * * * * 7th November 2008, WILLIAMS Hello, I'm trying to trace the ancestry of David John Williams - born 1899 in Treherbert. His parents were : David Williams & Margaret Elizabeth Williams neé Jones Basic information is as follows: His family were living at Scott Street when he was born on 18- 01-1899. His parents were David & Margaret Elizabeth and there were other children. He married Mary Hannah James in 1918. He was a Pit Overman and she was a fishmonger. They came to London in 1930 and he stayed there until he returned, I think in the late 1960's. He died in Treorchy in 1974. I'm asking for help because I can't find him in the 1901 Census and because there were about six David Williams births registered in the area at that date. Any help will be very much appreciated. The information is for his grand-daughter. Thanking you in (Hopeful) anticipation of your assistance. Saturday, 15th September 2007, four generations of the Willis
family met at the Treorchy Conservative Club for a family party.
The party took place as the result of family history research.
There was almost 40 people in attendance, the oldest being 80 years
of age and the youngest just 2. As
well as ‘locals’ some of the family had travelled from as far afield
as Guildford in Surrey, Lowestoft, Malvern, Forest of Dean, Llandrindod
Wells, Swansea and Bridgend. Everyone
enjoyed an evening full of fun and reminiscing.
There was opportunity to add up to date information to the family
tree and a ‘How Well Do You Know Your Family?’ quiz. Our
thanks go to Anthony at Treorchy Library for his invaluable help in
researching the Willis family and the ladies at The Treorchy Conservative
Club for providing the venue. We
are now trying to trace the whereabouts of Marian, the daughter of Stephen
and Elizabeth Willis. Marian
was brought up by The Willis family, originally from Gelli, are planning to hold another family party in September 2008. For further details please ‘phone 01594 835512.
