DAVIES

I am trying to find information on my father Myrddin Davies, who was born in Gelli in 1910. He was known for his prowess on the harp, winning the National Eisteddfod harp prize for under 18's in 1925 and 1926.

I understand that he played in most of the chapels in the Rhondda and I would imagine that there must be some published records.

My father's talent on the harp was considered by his first harp teacher to warrant being passed on to a more specialist teacher.  His teacher was Taliesin James, a Professor of the harp and a pupil of John Thomas, Percedd Gwalia, harpist to Queen Victoria.  John Thomas inscribed some of his music to Taliesin James and I have some of these copies, notably his Welsh Melodies, one of which appears to have been John Thomas' own corrected copy.

It would be nice if someone had some information. I have only visited the area as a child of 7 when staying with my uncle in Brecon.

DAVIES

Hello,

I am tracing my family tree, and would love to get in touch with a James Davies born in Treherbert around 1932, or his children.

His mother was Nellie and he had a brother named Les.

The family lived at one time in Miskin St..and later moved to 'Halifax St' I think.

If anybody could help I would be very grateful and if any one can remember/know him please email me.

Thank you

Dave and Jan Denley (nee Thomas)

CREWE

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to trace the Welsh side of my family from here in Australia with little success.  Is there anyone in Treorchy who can help with information?

My father, William Crewe, was born at 5 River Terrace, Treorchy on 22 December, 1906

His father, Richard Crewe, [my grandfather], lived in Senghenydd Street, Treorchy, at the time of his marriage.

The last time I saw my Welsh grandparents was when I was 5 years old and at that time they lived in Beddau.  I have no idea where my Welsh cousins are at this time.

Any news will be gratefully received!

The enquiry above was published in Treorchy.net's Winter 2008 Community Newsletter - 4,000 copies delivered locally during the month of December.

Any help in tracing ancestors or living family would be much appreciated.
