Dear Website!

I wonder if you could help me trace the whereabouts of Edwin Daniel Williams, who was probably born in Treorchy in 1891. He emigrated to Australia, but went AWOL after coming back to Europe to fight in the First World War.

Records state that he was killed in a mine accident sometime between January 1918 and October 1919, presumably in Wales

Any information at all about him would be gratefully received.

Diolch yn fawr,

Iwan Hughes

Hi,

My maternal grandfather was Watkin Watkins of Gelli, Rhondda.  He was born in 1891, was a miner, fought in the trenches in WW1 and in his youth was a booth fighter.

In the late 1960's I went into a pub in Treherbert (I believe it was The Dunraven) and much to my surprise there was a framed photograph on the wall of my Grandfather in his boxing shorts and standing in a boxing pose.

I have often wondered the whereabouts of this photograph - of course it may have been destroyed, but of course I would love to think it had been saved and someone might know of it's whereabouts as the only photographs I have of my Grandfather were taken later on in his life.

If anyone does have any information regarding this photograph, I would dearly love to hear from them.

I have a 1928 lorry that I understand worked at the Treorchy Wagon Works during the period 1928 until it was retired possibly in the 1950s.

I think it was Red painted.

Any information regarding the works and in particular any memories of the lorry about the works.

Ideally I would like copies of any photographs.

I would of course pay for any copy costs etc.

Thank you

Paul Hermon

I am attaching a photo of the lorry, at the time she was appearing in the TV series The Bretts. She also has been in Upstairs Downstairs.
