Can you tell me  anything about the Cwmparc Sabbatical School - about 1920.

I think that it was Calvanistic Methodism but can find no reference to it in any of the churches in the area?

I have a small, oval brass miners snuff / tobacco box.

The top is inscribed Jim Griffiths Dunster 1902.

Inside is stamped 'Sam Thomas - Maker - Treherbert '

The only possibles I can find in the 1901 census are Samuel age 57 blacksmith or Samuel 83 blacksmith.

Any info on the maker would be appreciated.

Can you advise me whether there is a site where I can get information about the history of Treherbert.

My grandfather was Beethoven Lewis born 3rd September 1899.

He married Elizabeth Morgan.

My mother was born in Treherbert on 19th April 1913

They appear to have moved in London around 1926. This year coincides with the Miner's strike.

Is there a local history site about the area?

 Thanks Aldo for the school photo.  You probably don't remember me, but I have just seen the Treorchy school cricket gang (below) I am the Ken Evans in the 1945 photo. This was the only year I spent in Treorchy School before moving on to Pentre Sec. We were quite pally at the time but that was a long time ago. You have brought back some very happy memories.  Thanks very much - Ken.

The girl in the second row from the top forth in from the left is my wife Eileen Cavalli ( nee Smith ) from Ynyswen, 

also in the photo sitting next to the female teacher is David Jones the barber from Treorchy.

Hi - I have found another photo you might be interested in, it was taken in Treorchy Infants School around 1968/69

Back row from left 6th pupil is Julian Cavalli ( my son ) - Front row sitting 1st left girl is Alison Porch, last girl in the row is Paula Cavalli my niece and still lives in Treorchy. Thanks…Aldo Cavalli.

      Headmistress on the left is Francis Davies and Class Teacher on the right is Mrs Thomas.
