Does anybody have a photo of the old Dunraven primary school from the 1920 as my father went to this school when he lived in Treorchy many years ago?

Could you email me.

Thanks

Does anyone have information about the clock that was on the wall of the library as a memory of the people that died in the blitz in the village?

The people of Cwmparc made donations for the clock in remembrance of the dead of the village.

My dad was on the committee of the library when it was unveiled. I have a photograph of the day it was unveiled.

Please e-mail info to p.rice30@ntlworld.com

Hi All,

I am looking for a friend I knew back in the late 60's, when I was a frequent visitor to Treorchy and Treherbert.

My friend lived in Cwmparc, and her name was Joan Davies.

It has been a long time since we last met, but as I now live in Australia, I would like to contact her again.

I have used other avenues available, over a period of time, but to no avail.

I am not sure that this is the way to go but, time is of the essence, and so I hope maybe this portal may be of help.

If not...so be it...but if someone there can help...it would be appreciated.

Regards

Does anyone know of a Gabriel Davies and his sister Sarah (Sally). Lived in Treorchy certainly in the 1970's. Possibly born there. Any info gratefully received. Many Thanks.

CANNARD

In 1939 I was evacuated from London to Trehafod. I stayed with the family of Will Cannard who had married a Miss Gay from Treorchy. I remained friendly with the family after the war and inherited a family bible some years ago.

Recently, when looking in that book, a postcard dropped out and I attach a copy of the photograph. The card is addressed to Mrs J. Gay at 38 High Street, Treorchy.

The message on the back reads "What do you think of your soldier son-in-law? Don`t I look brave, I don`t think. Well I am having plenty to do, I work harder in one day than I used to do in a week at home but I hope, with God`s help I will come safely through it all. Yours forever, I shall be very pleased to have a few words of you to cheer me up. Will."

Will Cannard is second from the left in the middle row. He survived the war but I wonder how many of those in the photograph did not.

I think that this card may be of interest to you and, if you think it might find a suitable home in some local archive I would be glad to donate it.

The men may, of course, come from elsewhere but I think it possible that they were all from the Rhondda.

Yours sincerely,

Harold Eckert
